Why We’re Putting Real Bodies Centre Stage at the Royal Hippodrome

In a world dominated by social media filters and digital perfection, our local dance community is taking to the stage to prove that ‘imperfect’ is beautiful.
On Saturday 11th April 2026, our BodiBlossom burlesque studio will present our latest dance showcase, “Life is a Cabaret” at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre in Eastbourne.
Featuring a cast of local women of all ages, shapes, and backgrounds, the show is a high-energy celebration of confidence and the joy of taking up space.
The heart of BodiBlossom is about building women up and helping them find their power exactly as they are.
Kirsty Davies, our Founder, says:
“We are living in a world where almost every image we see is filtered, photoshopped, or even AI-generated. It has never been more important for women to see real bodies represented on a stage.
The media has so much to answer for with unrealistic standards, especially for women. We want to be the ones doing something different."
For our performers, the impact goes far beyond the choreography. One of our dancersshares:
“BodiBlossom has helped me discover a level of confidence I could never even have dreamed of. It has been the best thing I've ever done for myself.”
The evening is also a fundraising event for Survivors’ Network, a vital Sussex charity providing specialist support to survivors of sexual violence and abuse.
The charity has supported several members of our community—making the performance a deeply personal mission for our entire cast.
“At BodiBlossom, you don’t need to change to fit the dance floor,” Kirsty continues. “You are welcome as you are. Our show is a reminder that being real is more powerful than being perfect.
If even one person in the audience leaves our show feeling a little more at home in their own body, then we’ve done our job.”
Tickets for the show are available now, with a donation from every ticket sold going directly to support the life-changing work of the Survivors’ Network.
